24 Feb 12 On ATO deadlines

"I lodged an objection on a client's behalf on 8 September 2011. After some chasing, on 13 February 2012 I receive a letter, dated 7 February 2012, from the ATO requesting additional information be provided by 14 February 2012. This effectively awarded me one day to gather the required information and respond. After juggling priorities I managed to respond, via the mail facility of the Portal, on 15 February 2012.
Today (17 February 2012), I received a further letter from the ATO, also dated 15 February 2012, advising that the objection has been withdrawn and the case closed. No explanation offered. However, I am guessing it is due to my not responding by their deadline of 14 February 2012! This is nowhere near an adequate, proper, fair and professional application of the taxation laws of this country."
