"I have recently lodged a BAS for a client. One of the options given on the BAS form was for PAYG income tax instalment. The pre-printed options show an option of 1, ATO instalment amount (amount shown), or 2, ATO instalment rate (rate given). As both options were clearly available on the form we chose option 2, instalment rate. The BAS was lodged and validated. I have now received a letter from the ATO stating that they have arbitrarily changed the BAS to option 1, instalment amount. Why do they give us an option then change it when clearly both options are available on the form sent to us? The ATO must still have nothing better to do than change things another department did just so they can waste time and money, yet again."
