"Today we received a list of overdue documents from the ATO which included a number of clients that we had lodged 2011 client update forms by ELS as 'return not necessary' for that year. The ATO list shows the returns still as not lodged. Checked the Portal and yes still showing return not lodged. Rang the ATO who checked ELS validation reports and that is correct as well. Checked further with some other practitioners whose lists show similar. Only conclusion I can draw is that the ATO systems no longer recognise client update forms lodged by ELS. What is going on?

It is about time we called for a Royal Commission into ATO administration and practices. Too much spin and bulldust and not enough systems working."
