MEMBER 67 writes, in response to Member 54's comment in last week's TAXVINE - see 2013 TAXVINE No 10 (28 March 2013) - about the ATO's failure to issue Statements of Account:
"I refer to Member 54's comments last week in TAXVINE. When we present a company or SMSF tax return for signature we also give the client a letter and payment advice printed from the Portal stating the amount and due date for payment. We also emphasise that this is a self assessment system and that they will not receive any further notices for payment. If anything we would rather not receive any further statements of account from the ATO as this just creates more work for us with no benefit to the ATO, us or the client."
