"I was reviewing my latest due lodgment report for the 15 May deadline when I noticed several client names that I had previously advised the ATO via the portal that no further returns were necessary. Upon checking the clients' lodgment status on the portal it was showing 2011 as "Not Lodged" yet I had previously advised of no further returns required. I decided that I had better fix the problem however when I tried to submit a further "No future returns necessary" the fearless ATO portal red flagged me and told me to contact the ATO. What a stuff up, a further waste of the $800 million upgrade. Also on my due lodgment report was a client who I last lodged a return for in 2001 and it likewise errored when I attempted to lodge a no further returns necessary. Thanks to every contributor to feedback, it brings some sanity (and much needed laughter) each Friday."
