On E-tax software

“Can we get any confirmation from the ATO when they will be moving into the 21st century and providing E-tax software that can be readily used with an Apple Macintosh? Is this really too much to ask for?”
The Tax Institute’s Tax Counsel DEEPTI PATON comments:
We have raised this issue with the ATO on several occasions. The ATO remains of the view that, at this time, such an improvement would benefit only a narrow segment of the population (especially as compared to other potential improvements), and that the anticipated cost has led the ATO to conclude that such an improvement is not warranted at this time. However, the ATO is open to revisiting this issue in the future if these factors change.
