"Holiday season seems to have run over somewhat at the ATO with almost all returns lodged since late November 2011 exceeding their service standard.
We lodge manual returns for a clients in a particular segment.
The Tax Office has only completed one batch of returns since December 2011. Now we’re going through the laborious task of placing escalations on over 50 overdue returns for our clients.
These delays have resulted in 37% lower than expected fees during January- add to this the extra time spent on escalations & dealing with unhappy clients, not to mention the negative image resulting from extended completion times...and you have a very unhappy new year.
I'm off for a job at the ATO where Christmas never ends..."
