"I have had two ladies ring me irate that they have received a letter from the ATO stating that 'we didn't have your current postal address' and 'If you change your postal address again, you need to let us know'.
Both ladies have been our clients for the last 30 years.
What has happened is that they have now entered the quarterly IAS regime for the first time and the ATO computer has no address under IAS. However our address has always been their postal address for service of notices.
We are very careful to ensure that the ATO records for our clients are kept up to date and that their running balance account is zero. However we cannot compete with incompetent programming of the ATO taxpayer data base."
