"I had a phone call from Dun & Bradstreet on behalf of the ATO. They are chasing money owed by XYZ Pty Ltd and I'm down as the Contact Person. I said that I had never heard of XYZ Pty Ltd (a QLD Company) and so that was the end of the call.
I called the Debt Collection section of the ATO to find out why my details are attached to the Tax Records of a company that I have heard nothing about.
The answer was that due to privacy issues (I couldn't give them the TFN of the company although I had the ABN off the ABR web site) they could not help me as they could not access the company's tax records to see if my personal details were attached to the company
I SAID WHAT ABOUT MY PRIVACY - "Sorry there is nothing we can do"
WHAT A LOAD OF GARBAGE!!!!!!!!
The "system" is always skewed against the innocent.
