On Single Touch Payroll - the ATO responds
In 2015 TAXVINE No 2 (30 January 2015), Member 6 wrote about the design of software for the Single Touch Payroll system, suggesting that the ATO should "follow Apple’s lead and just provide the specifications and let the market place design the software".
THE ATO NOW RESPONDS
"Thank you for your comments regarding Single Touch Payroll. The ATO is working with the software developer community to design and implement Single Touch Payroll. We are taking into consideration learnings from previously implemented ATO projects and similar projects conducted by other tax administrations around the world. The ATO is currently consulting with a broad range of stakeholders on the transition arrangements including what support employers might require. The consultation is also exploring the potential to remit PAYG Withholding and Superannuation Guarantee at the same time employees are paid and the support employers might require to mitigate impacts on their business."
