"I attempted to lodge 2 annual PAYG elections via the 131726 phone service, where you speak to a machine to make the election. This has been a very efficient service until today (25 November 2011). Upon dialling the number and selecting option 1 then option 3, I was requested to enter the client's TFN via the phone keypad. Eventually I spoke to an ATO officer who told me that the system was in read only mode until 3 January 2012 and that my requests for annual elections would be escalated. I only hope my escalation works. What a joke. Why can't tax agents lodge these elections on the Portal?"
