"Another case of the ATO refusing to process refunds. Just called the ATO and advised that the standard processing time for returns lodged by ELS is 28 days, amazing how they come back normally within 14 days, asked why my client has no payment date against his refund even though the tax return shows on the portal as having been lodged and his credit balance of $ 11,500 is showing correctly , advised by a person in North Tasmania that nothing could be followed up until standard processing time of 28 days has passed. This is just another delay on the part of the ATO. My client's wife received her refund on 11 January 2012 for an amount of $ 4,400. Just because this person's refund is over $10,000 the ATO are of the belief that most probably the client is a cheat and have done nothing and refuse to follow matters up.
I asked to speak to a supervisor to complain, advised that the phone operator could not find anyone and did I wish to wait. Where is the service form the ATO? They will not call back, will not follow up where refunds are due and do nothing."
