On the ATO's correspondence writing skills

"I read with some amazement the ATO’s response to Member 190’s comments about their 'heavy handed' correspondence - see 2014 TAXVINE No 44 (28 November 2014). So, usually they co-design their correspondence but this time they didn’t? So, are we to surmise from that confession that the ATO simply does not know how to write a decent letter? Amazing.
I just continue to sit open mouthed at the mess that we get from the ATO over and over again. All from a commissioner who promised to be fairer. Bring back the old I say."
TAXVINE COMMENT: For those who are interested, ATO information about the ATO's "letter improvement project" and engaging with practitioners to co-design correspondence improvements can be found here
