"In 2013 TAXVINE No 45 (22 November 2013), under the heading 'ATO Tax Practitioner Advisory Group – ATO’s approach to the electronic service delivery', phrases are used like '...the Portal is going to be hard to maintain into the future', 'the cost of the software' and '...affordable systems'.
This sounds like some softening up for less service/maintenance/improvements to the Portal.
Perhaps the ATO might like to clarify the ATO's commitment (or otherwise) to the Portal."
THE TAX INSTITUTE’S TAX COUNSEL, STEPHANIE CAREDES, COMMENTS: “We note that the ATO is at the very beginning of considering how the information and services currently delivered by the Portal might be able to be improved upon and delivered through other electronic means at some stage in the future. This will be part of the ATO’s review of its approach to electronic service delivery into the future over the medium term. The Tax Institute has been and will continue to be involved in consultation on these issues.”
