"Once more the ATO shows its contempt of us Tax Agents by scheduling maintenance of the Portal at OUR Busiest time of the year. Thursday 3 October 10.30pm AEST to Friday 4 October 7am AEST What a joke. Couldn’t get onto the Portal for 95% of the day. Kept booting me off.
Saturday 5 October 6pm AEST to Sunday 6 October 3pm AEDT
Sunday 6 October 10.30pm AEDT to Monday 7 October 7am AEDT
Good to see having a new Commissioner coming from private enterprise understands our frustrations. NOT! Same ol’ same ol’. The ATO expects us to meet our tax obligation deadlines yet does not allow us access to an extremely important tool during our busiest times. I understand upgrades are needed. The only problem is that whenever an upgrade is done on the Portal we seem to have 1 -3 days of down time while we get the 'Oops unexpected error'. I have been jokingly telling my clients that maybe the ATO should say 'Oops unexpected error' when the Portal works well first time every time."
THE TAX INSTITUTE’S TAX COUNSEL, STEPHANIE CAREDES, COMMENTS: “The Tax Institute together with representatives from other professional bodies has raised with the ATO concerns that have again arisen with the Portal. We will be closely monitoring the issue and will advise of how the issue progresses in due course.”
