"I received a phone call from an ATO officer the other day to apologise for the delay in issuing a 2010 assessment for one of my clients. It appears that the EFT deposit failed. I mentioned to the officer that I had no issues with the client's 2010 return as the assessment issued in August 2010 and as I was to deduct my fee from the refund there was no way that the refund was going to be deposited into the client's bank account. I suggested to the officer that it was another example of the change program's stuff ups. Imagine if this return had not been processed, does any member think I would have waited 10 months to chase up its non-issue?"
