11 Feb 1111 Our fault - new system - you need new TFN and new ABN!MEMBER 17 writes:
"Had an interesting client issue today. The ATO have advised the client that after 10 years of using the same TFN and ABN, they have to reapply for a new one and deal with the inconvenience this is going to cause.
The issue is that the old system incorrectly recorded their entity as a trust and not a Partnership. It has been able to lodge ITRs as a Partnership in the old system but the new one is unable to. Apparently there is no resolution except applying for a new one. Clearly the new system can't just recategorise the old TFN and ABN as a "Partnership".
Obviously, the new system is so sophisticated it can't handle something as simple as recategorising an entity type."
