24 May 10 Portal difficulties and general lodgment deferral for monthly activity statements due 21 May 2010
On 19 May 2010, the ATO sent a broadcast message to tax agents acknowledging that agents are having a number of difficulties involving access to the Portal and requesting that agents don’t call the ATO to report these issues. The ATO says that it is doing everything it can to resolve the issues as quickly as possible.
On 20 May 2010, the ATO sent a broadcast message to tax agents acknowledging that there had been some "intermittent instability" in ATO systems, which may make it difficult for agents to lodge monthly activity statements by 21 May 2010. In acknowledgment, the message said that the Commissioner has granted a general lodgment deferral for all monthly activity statement returns due to be lodged by 21 May to 4 June 2010. This is a deferral of lodgment only, any payments are still due to be paid by 21 May 2010. These arrangements will be automatically applied and agents do not need to apply for a lodgment deferral.
