This week our Federal representatives commenced the final fortnight in this Parliamentary year. After next week there will be a recess until February, when the increasingly difficult legislative debates will resume.
However, what we will continue to see right up until the end of this year and into the next, is the raft of consultations and policy announcements in the tax arena.
The Government has a full agenda with the policies that it announced in the lead-up to the election. These include:
- a reshaped and boosted Board of Taxation;
- a Tax System Advisory Board to shape Tax Office corporate governance;
- a tax summit to discuss the Henry Review and tax reform; and
- the minerals resource rent tax.
