ATO response: 

The new online services for agents has been available to all agents now since early March.  Agents are able to access either the portal or the new online services from the same page as the portal was previously accessed.  As noted, later this year we will be releasing the first phase of a solution into online services for agents that will enable agents, with the agreement of their clients, to set preferences for particular categories of communications so that the notification does not go to the client’s MyGov inbox but rather to the agent.  Our future communications to taxpayers about accessing their income statements through MyGov will now also be highlighting that agents will have visibility of the information (through online services and pre-fill). However, it is likely that more of your clients will link to the ATO through MyGov this TaxTime and it will be very important for you to be vigilant in utilising the client communication list accessible through both online services for agents and the portal, to have visibility of client communications being sent to the MyGov inbox. 

Contrary to member 83’s comment, when a client links to the ATO through MyGov, they are not removed from the agent’s client list.  They remain on the client list but certain communications will be directed to the MyGov inbox.  An agent has visibility of these communications through the client communication list and should be regularly accessing this list to keep track of their client’s ATO communications.
