  • NTLG LPP Working Party – “Scope of Engagement” agreement consultation - The Consultation Paper sets out what the ATO considers important when making legal professional privilege (LPP) claims. According to the Consultation Paper, when responding to a request for information or seeking to access documents, the ATO expects to understand what documents have been reviewed, the process by which that review was undertaken and what communications are asserted to be privileged and why.   • Letter to Assistant Treasurer – Improvements to Tax Policy and Administration Consultation - The Tax Institute, together with the Corporate Tax Association, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, Law Council of Australia and Institute of Public Accountants, has written to the Assistant Treasurer, the Hon Michael Sukkar MP, in relation to making improvements to consultation on tax policy and administration of the tax system.  A letter together with a paper outlining how improvements could be made is available on our website.   • Victoria - State Taxation Acts Amendment Bill 2019 - The Tax Institute’s Victorian State Taxes Committee has urgently written to the Victorian Treasurer, Tim Pallas, with concerns regarding the State Taxation Acts Amendment Bill (VIC) 2019. The Institute is particularly concerned with the economic entitlement provisions amendments. Members who are interested to read the submission can find it here.
