Members are reminded that the ATO has scheduled Tax Agent Portal system maintenance for this weekend. The ATO advises that although the portal will still be available, specific functions may be unavailable. For further information, check the ATO website (it is noted that system maintenance also occurred on Tuesday 18 October and Wednesday 19 October). The Tax Institute is aware of ongoing issues with portal, including system stability. We have once again raised the performance of the portal with the ATO, and will be discussing it with them at the next ATO Tax Practitioner Forum meeting on 4 November 2011. These discussions will include the possibility of a pilot program to keep agents better informed (i.e. in real time) of system outages and when they will be resolved.
