11 Jun 1010 Taxation Institute in the media
The Taxation Institute was mentioned in the Gold Coast Bulletin on 5/6 June 2010 following the Institute's Queensland State Convention where Greg Smith of the Henry Review Panel was one of the keynote speakers: "Henry review wanted to increase GST tax rate".
We were also quoted in the Australian Financial Review on Saturday, 5 June 2010, following Second Commissioner of Taxation Bruce Quigley's speech on the ATO's Compliance Program at the Queensland State Convention: "Work expenses get renewed tax scrutiny".
As mentioned above, the ATO's ruling on unpaid present entitlements and the Tax Institute's media release generated coverage in the Australian Financial Review on 7 June 2010: "Trusts suffer double tax blow".
In addition, the Australian Financial Review published an opinion article from the Institute (with respect to UPEs) on 7 June 2010: "Trust tax change to be retrospective" This generated further public debate in the letters pages of the Financial Review on 8 and 9 June 2010.
The Business Review Weekly of June 10 - 16 2010 also reported our comments.
