Deepti Paton ATIA represented the Taxation Institute at the ATO's Taxation Statistics Advisory Group on Thursday, 2 September 2010.
At the meeting, the ATO noted that it has responded to the Report of the Government 2.0 Taskforce by producing data in forms which increases engagement with the public, and through greater interaction with the community (for example via feedback/surveys, interactive graphs and internet based communication).
The Group discussed the relevance, importance and usefulness of the Taxation Statistics publication by discussing amendments to the production of the 2007-2008 volume of the publication in comparison to previous years. Primary changes include addition of new chapters, inclusion of historical data and the disclosure of information by post codes. The ATO is currently looking at ways to improve the Taxation Statistics 2008-2009 publication.
