On Monday 5 September 2011, the Australian Financial Review’s editorial: “Narrow tax talks for broad reform” (on page 54) extensively refers to The Tax Institute's Great Tax Debate in the context of tax reform.  It also refers to comments by Prof Greg Smith and The Tax Institute, calling for an independent body to be established to realise some of the tax reform vision in Henry and ensure tax reform is progressed.

On 6 September 2011, The Australian Financial Review again mentions The Tax Institute’s Great Tax Debate (on page 8): “Argus takes swipe at resources tax levy” and reports comments made at the event by Rob Oakeshott MP and Henry Ergas.

On 9 September 2011, The Great Tax Debate is once again referred to in two articles in The Australian Financial Review (on page 9): “Costs may cause brain drain” and “GST cap here to stay: Swan”.
