In a media release issued on 20 August 2014, the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) released 2 exposure drafts for comment in relation to the requirements for:
- a course in Australian taxation law that is approved by the Board for tax (financial) advisers (Proposed Guideline TPB(PG) D04/2014)
- a course in commercial law that is approved by the Board for tax (financial) advisers (Proposed Guideline TPB(PG) D05/2014).
The exposure drafts set out the preliminary views of the TPB and aim to assist relevant institutions and the wider community to understand the TPB’s proposed approach to the qualification requirements for registration as a tax (financial) adviser.
These two Board approved courses form part of the qualification requirements for individuals seeking registration as a (tax) financial adviser under the 'standard registration option', which commences on 1 January 2016.
Submissions on the exposure drafts close on 19 September 2014.
