On Thursday 28 November 2013, Andrew Mills CTA-Life (Greenwoods & Freehills) attended the inaugural meeting of The Treasury’s Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) Tax Advisory Group. In this meeting, the following issues were discussed:
- An overview of the G20 Tax Agenda and the issues to be addressed during Australia’s presidency;
- The role and function of the BEPS Tax Advisory Group and how it will have input into certain activities of the OECD focused on various aspects of international taxation stemming from the OECD’s Action Plan on BEPS (eg the Digital Task Force); and
- Feedback from the various OECD Working Parties that Australia has attended.
