09 Jul 10 Will the ATO be paying interest?MEMBER 204 writes:
"I remember receiving an email (just can’t find the copy) a couple of months ago where the ATO said they were going to look into how to pay clients interest on the delays in receiving refunds.
I have a file of copies of clients' assessment notices here waiting to see what comes.
Has anything been done in the ATO to work out how the interest in going to be paid or has it all been too hard and now forgotten?
If that is the case, I don't mind the ATO's new "system" being able to backdate refund cheques and record them as being sent to the client today as long as I can now do my June BAS in late September and send in a suitably dated cheque and form and it be accepted by the system as "lodged" on 28 July 2010."
