This masterclass was designed for in-house tax professionals in large superannuation funds, managed investment trusts and other institutional managed funds and their tax advisors.
The presentations focused on internal tax governance issues and risk management policies and how funds can meet requirements and expectations of key stakeholders (e.g. members, unit holders, ATO). The presentations also looked at the interaction of institutional trusts with their custodians for tax reporting and related purposes. Key tax reform projects, such as MITs, Division 6 rewrite, My Super and FATCA were also covered, as well as current issues, such as:
- measurement of after tax performance
- present entitlement issues
- post distribution learnings
- ATO risk review programs - TOFA, FX, capital losses.
Dale is a Financial Services Partner with Ernst & Young specialising in tax. Dale has over 25 years experience in providing taxation advice and compliance support for many of Australia's largest financial services organisations.
Specific areas of expertise include working with clients around legislative and tax policy changes such as TOFA. MIT reform, FATCA and the IMR regime. Dale also works closely with funds around year end distribution processes together with managing tax risk and achieving good tax governance.
Dale is noted particularly for his deep industry experience in both the insurance and asset management sectors. He is highly valued by his clients for working to provide commercial solutions in the context of complex tax laws.
