Salary packaging gives rise to a number of taxation and similar issues, particularly in relation to fringe benefits taxes. With these issues, there arises both traps and opportunities. It is necessary for corporates to keep on top of issues and changes in relation to salary packaging, to ensure that both its own and its staff’s costs are minimized. This presentation gives a high level overview of different issues that arise in salary packaging. In particular, it covers:
- taxation of car benefits
- major issues affecting salary packaging
- recent cases and rulings.
Donna is a Tax Principal in the Deloitte Global Employer Services team in Sydney. She has worked as a tax practitioner for over 25 years. In 2016, after many years of balancing career and family, Donna was nominated for the Deloitte’s Aspiring Women’s Leadership Program. During this program, Donna was able to gain clarity around her own career and how she can mentor other women to work towards a lifestyle and career that works for them. Leadership for Donna is to lead by example and to understand that we all have different roles to play. She encourages her team to play to their strengths and to always believe in themselves.
