Back to the future: The foreign income tax offset rules revisited

The foreign income tax offset rules will significantly simplify access to double tax relief for outbound investors that repatriate foreign source income to Australia. As taxpayers turn their minds to preparing tax returns for the 2007-2008 income year, this article provides a comprehensive revision of both the foreign tax credit rules that are still relevant to the 2007-08 income year, and the incoming foreign income tax offset rules.
