Tax education: The value of both education and experience

The use of competencies as educational currency became part of the vocational education agenda in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Employers often face the dilemma of trying to assess applicants who have extensive experience but no formal qualifications.

Ruth is the General Manager of Education and is responsible for the Events and Education Division of the Institute. She holds a Master of Adult Education and Training (UTS 1999) and a Master of Business (UTS 2005). Prior to joining the Taxation Institute of Australia in March 2005, Ruth's previous experience spanned educational roles in other membership organisations in the finance, investment, accounting and financial planning sectors.
