ATO presentation – issues for large funds presentation

This presentation covers an update from the ATO on industry’s progression in the Justified Trust program and the ATO’s perspectives around fund tax governance.

Nadia Alfonsi
Nadia is an Acting Assistant Commissioner in the Public Groups and International (PG&I) business line of the ATO. As part of her role, Nadia has responsibility for the Investment Industry Strategy, which includes assuring that insurance companies and large APRA regulated superannuation funds are paying the right amount of income tax. Nadia is also responsible for PG&I Engagement and Assurance teams in Parramatta and Newcastle managing a range of taxpayer engagement activities including tax assurance reviews of Top 100 and Top 1000 taxpayers. Nadia has previously held a number of roles across the ATO including Superannuation & Employer Obligations, Tax Counsel Network and the Treasury. - Current at 16 September 2021
Andrew Grace
Andrew is a director in the Public Groups and International (PG&I) business line of the ATO. Andrew heads up the Superannuation Strategy within the Investment Industry Strategy team while supporting all other strategies within the team. Andrew joined in the ATO in 2003 and has worked with the superannuation industry in different roles since 2007 in PG&I and works closely with business lines across the ATO that support the superannuation industry with issues ranging from income tax on contributions and investments, law design and member reporting issues. - Current at 30 September 2021
Blake Sly
Blake is a director and strategy lead in the Public Groups and International (PG&I) business line of the ATO. As part of his role, Blake leads the PG&I Investment Industry Strategy team, which includes assuring that insurance companies, managed funds and large APRA regulated superannuation funds are paying the right amount of income tax. Blake has previously held a number of roles across the ATO including Director roles in PG&I Infrastructure and Business Fragmentation Strategy and PGI Assurance and Engagement Newcastle and Paramatta. - Current at 16 September 2021
