Tax tips: Discount capital gains - shares and units

The amending legislation giving effect to the CGT discount capital gain included an important provision which can deny a capital gain from certain disposals of shares and units, the character of a discount capital gain even though the shares or units may have been owned for 12 months. There seems to be some uncertainty as to the practical ramifications of the provision and the important aspects of it are noted in this article.
