'Some of these initiatives came from the Listening to the Community project that involved tax agent input, notwithstanding these issues have been raised by the professional bodies, including the Tax Institute, for considerable amount of time in many forums' said Taxation Institute of Australia, Vice President, Mr Gil Levy.
'The Commissioner has made a commitment to implement various changes to both the level of communication and service to tax agents. Some of these actions were in the pipeline at the time of the meeting but had not been communicated before today' said Mr Levy.
'One of the most important initiatives is the appointment of a Senior Officer to coordinate initiatives for tax agents. Further, the Commissioner has agreed to issue a position paper by 6th September that will cover models concerning the establishment of client relationship managers to assist agents. The latter initiative as with many others was strongly argued for by the Tax Institute' concluded Gil Levy.
