The Taxation Institute of Australia President, John de Wijn QC today welcomed Michael D'Ascenzo's appointment as Commissioner of Taxation.
"Michael D'Ascenzo has a very high level of technical expertise and we've found him to adopt a common sense and practical approach to tax issues," Mr de Wijn QC said.
"As Second Commissioner and Chief Tax Counsel, the Institute has worked closely with Michael over many years and has appreciated his positive and constructive contribution to difficult tax issues. We look forward to working with him in his new role."
Mr de Wijn QC also acknowledged the enormous contribution made by Michael Carmody during his time as Commissioner and wishes him well in his new position at the Australian Customs Service.
