The Tax Institute enters alliance with ACCA in Australia

ACCA members will have access to Australia’s premier tax education and training thanks to an agreement between The Tax Institute and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

The memorandum of understanding signed between the two leading professional associations provides internationally qualified accountants (ACCA members, over 150,000 globally and over 3,000 in Australia) with access to The Tax Institute’s highly regarded tax program and a pathway to the internationally recognised designation Chartered Tax Advisor.

According to Noel Rowland, CEO of The Tax Institute, this agreement adds the jurisdictionally specific tax knowledge to a highly regarded international accounting qualification, and is consistent with the Institute’s mission to offer high quality education and build the capability of the tax profession.

“This agreement clearly illustrates the high esteem in which The Tax Institute’s programs and the reputation of its members are held internationally.

“We’re pleased to offer this opportunity to qualified ACCA members in Australia to help them further their professional careers by increasing their status and recognition as leading tax professionals,” he said.

According to Mr Rowland, this agreement with ACCA supplements The Tax Institute’s recent growth internationally following the launch of its Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) designation into Australia.

“The agreement supplements The Tax Institute’s recent announcement that we are working with tax institutes overseas to enhance the status of tax professionals globally,” he said.

Along with access to training and development, the agreement means The Tax Institute now recognise ACCA members as holding “a degree or postgraduate award from an Australian tertiary institution or an equivalent institution in the discipline of accounting” for the purposes of ACCA members becoming members of The Tax Institute.
