The Tax Institute, Australia’s peak body for tax professionals and CPA Australia, the nation’s peak accounting body, have renewed their Agreement to provide mutual recognition for their respective tax credential programs.
Under the Agreement, effective 1 January 2013 for three years, The Tax Institute and CPA Australia will continue to facilitate the recognition of graduates of each other’s’ respective tax studies.
It means that CPA Australia members, upon completing a series of courses and meeting set criteria, will be eligible to apply for Chartered Tax Adviser membership of The Tax Institute – the landmark international tax designation program launched by The Tax Institute last year. Likewise Tax Institute members will have their credentialed tax programs recognised as part of attaining the CPA designation.
Noel Rowland, CEO of The Tax Institute, said, ‘It’s very pleasing to continue this excellent arrangement between our two organisations. By continuing this agreement with CPA, members of The Tax Institute will continue to benefit from the world class training programs ensuring they are qualified at the highest ethical and professional standards.”
CPA Australia Chief Executive Alex Malley said: “This agreement is about improving the capacity and skills of tax specialists, who provide such an important service to business, government and the broader community. It benefits not only the members of both organisations but also business and the public.”
