Australia's premier professional tax body, the Taxation Institute of Australia, today announced they will be running a national roadshow and distributing regular communications to assist tax practitioners prepare for the new Tax Agents Services Regime.

Taxation Institute CEO, Noel Rowland, said "The aim of the roadshow is to educate and help prepare the taxation profession to ensure they comply with the legislation once it is in place".

The new Tax Agents Services legislation, which comes into effect in early 2010, replaces the former state based boards with one national Tax Practitioners Board.

"With a focus on 'safe harbour' provisions exempting taxpayers from certain administrative penalties and stricter code of conduct for both tax agents and BAS service providers, it is essential that all tax service providers are guided through this transition with accurate interpretation of the new legislation" said Noel Rowland.

"We are confident the roadshow, presented by professionals in practice, and the follow up newsletters, will provide tax service providers with the tools they need to help them transition with ease into the new regime" Noel Rowland added.

The roadshow, scheduled in all capital cities, will commence in the week of 28 October.  For more information on the roadshow visit the Taxation Institute website at
