Where the nation meets

Welcome
A Message from The Tax Institute
The Tax Institute's National Convention is without doubt the premier event for tax professionals across all areas of practice and the 2012 convention is shaping up to be even better than ever.
We are delighted that the convention will be held in Canberra in March 2012, the place where all new Federal tax legislation is planned, developed, debated and passed. The name Canberra is thought to mean 'meeting place', derived from the Aboriginal word Kamberra, so what better place to host the 2012 convention!
With an extensive team of taxation professionals involved in the development of this convention, over 30 of Australia's most experienced taxation presenters and an ever growing list of delegates from all parts of the taxation profession, The Tax Institute's National Convention is indeed the premier taxation conference in Australia.
Why you should attend
Featuring over 30 sessions covering the very latest technical content, ample networking opportunities and an expo showcasing exclusive offers from our Business Alliance Partners, attendance is the best way for you to develop your professional edge in 2012.
Our program committee, chaired by Len Hertzman, has developed an exceptional convention program that is both technically relevant and practical to meet the needs of all tax practitioners.
Hear from Australia's leading tax professionals
Many of Australia's leading tax experts and luminaries will be in attendance, ensuring that the keynote sessions and subsequent presentations are of the highest quality.
Keynote speakers for 2012 include:
- The Hon. Robert French, AC, Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia
- Paul Bloxham, HSBC Chief Economist
- Chris Jordon, AO, FTIA, Chair, Board of Taxation
- Michel D’Ascenzo, Commissioner of Taxation
- Deborah Hastings, Australian Taxation Office
- Ken Spence, FTIA (Life), Greenwoods & Freehills
- Graeme Cuxson, The Treasury
Network, unwind and have fun
Of course, the technical program is complemented by a fantastic social program, with the convention dinner at Parliament House sure to be a highlight. Take time to discover the national attractions which house our shared history, culture, flora, art, knowledge, law and identity with regular displays, tours and exhibitions. Catch up with colleagues and peers for three days of learning, discussion and debate at the taxation profession’s must-attend event of the year.
We hope you find this program as exciting as we do and we look forward to seeing you join us for a fresh look at your nation's capital for a truly "capital" experience.
