After nearly 25 years of GST in Australia, this discussion explored the horizon and how tax functions will need to manage the evolving landscape of e-invoicing, continuous transaction controls, and live reporting. We looked at lessons learned from other countries, changes in compliance profiles, and the necessary systems and touchpoints. We discussed the skill sets and resource requirements for the future state tax function and how indirect tax data will play a part in ESG reporting.
