The introduction of GST on 1 July 2000 marked a period of tremendous reform, backed by strong political will and a desire to position Australia’s tax system for the future. In this session we look back at pivotal moments in the development of Australia’s GST, evaluate what has gone well, and areas of untapped potential. The speaker will then apply his global experiences with indirect tax systems to chart a course for Australia’s future of GST to 2030.
