2019 Barossa Convention

The 2019 Barossa Convention is an event steeped in in history and tradition which makes it South Australia’s premier event for tax professionals. This event has been developed by a team of tax professionals who aim to bring you a program that is technically relevant and practical, and designed to meet the needs of tax professionals with a predominantly SME practice.

High Quality Program

The Convention Organising Committee has brought together a diverse range of high- profile, expert presenters from across the profession to deliver the same top-quality technical sessions that have become a hallmark of our State Convention. Headlining the program, we’re very excited to hear from our distinguished keynote speakers who are shaping the local and global tax landscape of tomorrow. Professor Robert Breunig will address the urgent need for tax reform in Australia and what it might look like. Professor Graeme Cooper, always a draw card at Tax Institute Conventions, will take a deeper look into the CGT regime and design problems that can trip the unwary practitioner.

The Friday morning program will be based around a case study with each session focusing on specific tax and legal aspects of a business group through time, including special commentary from the ATO on matters of interest to the regulator. Div 7A, the current hot topic in the profession, rounds the Convention off with a critical panel session looking into practical implications of the reforms on our private clients from this sleeping matter.

Unique Industry Networking

With formal and informal networking events throughout the two days there’s plenty of opportunity to meet up with friends and peers - old and new from accounting, law, financial services and regulatory backgrounds. We’ve got some excellent entertainment planned too and combined with our Tax Safari theme for the Gala dinner there’s sure to be plenty of laughs.

Idyllic Destination and Local Activities

The Barossa Valley is a fabulous destination for interstaters and locals alike. Take time to visit famous and yet discovered cellar doors before or after (not during!) the Convention. If you can’t afford the time though the Convention Resort overlooks rolling vineyards and at the dinners you’ll enjoy fresh local produce inspired by Saskia Beer, accompanied by quality Barossa Valley wines including the Shiraz – the iconic variety in the Region. For those more energetic I encourage you to hop on a bike to explore the local paths among vineyards and Jacob’s Creek or join our “Tour de Tax” bike ride from the Adelaide CBD. We recommend that you extend your Barossa visit into the weekend. So, don’t hesitate – book now and make the most of the advance and early bird registration offers, and ensure 2019 is the year you visit the Barossa. Email us:
